New from Old

I am an avid recycler - have been for years! And I don't just mean putting out my papers and tin cans to be collected for recycling! I love the idea of turning something that you no longer have a use for into something completely different!


So today, I'm going to showcase some of the items on Folksy that are just that - something old turned into something new!!

Where did all the snow go?

It doesn't seem like over a month ago that virtually the whole country was beneath a blanket of snow!
We are now in a new year, even a new decade! Up here, the snow has gone, but they keep saying that its on its way back!! Today is damp and dreary!

Too good to keep to myself!!

Just wanted to share with you some of my favourite stores on Folksy! Its strange how most of the stores in "My Favourites" seem to be jewellery stores considering that I myself make jewellery! I usually impulse buy (don't we all!!) but if I want a specific colour of say earrings then I will often make myself a pair!!
Anyway, I'll try and showcase some of the other stores in "My Favourites" today - but may slip in the odd jewellery one!!!

The first store is a new one on Folksy, although the seller is well known through her own website and Etsy, where she usually sells her wonderful handmade glass beads!

I bought a lovely pendant from her last week and asked her to make me a matching pair of earrings aswell! They arrived within 2 days and I was over the moon!

As many of you may know I have been raising funds for Macmillan this year as I was told at the end of 2009 that I had cancer. I started a store on Folksy http://www.folksy.com/shops/MacmillanFundraising selling jewellery and then some of the other wonderfull sellers on Folksy offered to sell items in their stores and donate the proceeds to Macmillan aswell!
I was totally overwhelmed by the level of support from people. I had parcels arriving in the post from people sending me beads and findings for me to make into jewellery, it was lovely.

Since then, I have made two £100 donations to
Macmillan; one to my local fundraising group here
on the island and the other the our local Macmillan
nurse who has a pallative care fund for those cancer
patients who have chosen to die at home.

So today, I just wanted to showcase some of the
wonderful people who have helped me, and are
still helping me, by selling items for Macmillan.

A lovely lady called Sue, who is a whizz with the knitting needles,
originally made me a lovely hat to wear when my hair fell out due to the chemotherapy. She then made some of these cute little flowers that you can pin onto your coat, a hat, a scarf, anywhere!
