If you've been following my blogs for a whle you will know that I make beanie hats, scarves & wristwarmers & donate them to homeless outreach projects around the UK.
I started doing this back in the autumn of 2018 & up to the end of 2021 I have sent out 113 parcels of items to various outreach projects & organisations around the UK.
This year, in an effort to help offset the cost of posting out the parcels, which is around £4 each, I introduced "Bute Beanies".
These are a small selection of handmade crochet beanie style hats that I am offering for sale at £9.99 each (plus UK p+p) and each one sold means I can post out a parcel of 18 other beanie hats to a homeless project.
Bute Beanies was launched on 1st January 2022 & so far 9 beanies have been sold.
2 parcels, each with 18 other handmade beanie style hats have already been posted out.
1 went to Glasgow & another to Leeds.
The Bute Beanies that are for sale can be found in my Folksy store or on my Facebook page
More will be added throughout the year.
Running alongside this I decided to challenge myself this year to make a beanie a day in 2022.
As of writing this blog post we are on day 46 of 2022 & I am still on course with the challenge.
46 beanies have been made so far - I take a photo each Sunday of the previous weeks makes & post them on my social media platforms.
I have been very lucky to have had some donations of yarn in the past couple of weeks which really help as I wouldn't be able to do all this without some lovely people sending me parcels of unwanted yarn.
Hopefully by Christmas I should have made at least 359 Bute Beanies and most of them will have been sent out to homeless projects up & down the country. Fingers crossed that I can sell enough to help pay the postage on all those parcels too.
Right, better find my crochet hook & a ball of yarn and start another Bute Beanie.
Catch you later.
